“Have the same attitude as Christ.”
“The best test [of Servant-Leadership], and difficult to administer, is: Do those served grow as persons? Do they, while being served, become healthier, wiser, freer, more autonomous, more likely themselves to become servants? The first order of business is to build a group of people who, under the influence of the institution, grow taller, become healthier, stronger, more autonomous.” – Robert Greenleaf
You have to be very well defined to take on the servant’s role.  Intentionality and self-possession are the hallmarks. (“No one takes my life from me, but I lay it down of my own accord. I have authority to lay it down and to take it up again.” John 10:18) To truly serve, one must be servant to others’ ultimate best interest, not a slave to others’ approval.
